EGCG is anti-androgenic – androgens are hormones that your body naturally produces.  Fluctuating levels of androgen can cause your sebaceous glands to overproduce sebum which could actually result in acne flare-ups. EGCG actually helps reduce lipid levels thus potentially slows down the overproduction of sebum which in turn helps in lessening the development of acne.
