That panda look under your eyes?  Oh well. That must be it. There are certain factors affecting the appearance of fine lines and dark circle under eyes such as environmental factors, sun exposure and even genetic plays a role in how it appeared in person’s face. You might associate those dark circles under your eyes with tiredness and lack of sleep. While this is considered to be one of the well-known reasons, there are some others that you have to look into in lieu of getting rid of those unwanted circles under your eyes.

Why am I getting these dark circles under my eyes?

Fatigue

Sleeping past the normal bedtime schedule is one of the main culprits of the unwanted bags under your eyes. Sleep deprivation can cause your skin to become dull and pale as it allows those dark tissues and blood vessels beneath your skin to show.

Those puffy eyes after a long night? It happens because of the build-up of fluid under your eyes.

Aging

And then welcome to adulting where you pay your own bills stage, make the most out of life, and working 40 hours in a week, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are part of your adulting. Admit it or not. Everyone will go through this stage or chances are you are already in it. Aging is something that we cannot control. (How we wish we could) As we age, the skin tends to lose its elasticity, skin cells are losing collagen and its ability to renew on its own is reduced. As you age, those dark blood vessels beneath your skin become more visible causing that dark under-eye circles to show up.

Allergies

Yep, you see it right! Allergies also play a big factor in the development of dark circles under your eyes. When you are experiencing an allergic reaction, your body releases histamine as its response to harmful bacteria. Histamines are believed to cause your blood vessels to dilate making them more visible beneath your skin.

Dehydration

Your skin in general suffers most when you are not getting enough H20.  An insufficient amount of H20 can cause the skin beneath your eyes to look dull and sunken.

 Exposure to UV rays

Overexposure to the sun can cause the body to produce melanin – the pigment that provides color to your skin. Too much sun exposure can cause pigmentation in whatever areas of your skin to become darker.

Believe us when we say that things like this in your skin are pretty normal. It is one of our common skin responses to aging. However, we pretty much understand your dilemma to get rid of it. May it be skincare for men or skincare for women, this skin concern should be addressed.

The good news is, we will be sharing with you these skincare tips that you can pretty much incorporate into your daily skincare routine that won’t cost you much penny. Make the most out of your stay at home apart from that new habits you are doing lately, try incorporating one of any of these home remedies in getting rid of those dark circle under eyes.

The ever famous cucumber for the eyes

Studies have shown that the juice of the cucumber can help reduce swelling, soothe damaged skin and stimulate antioxidant activity. The high water content makes it one of the go-to ingredients in getting rid of those puffy dark circles under the eyes as it moisturizes the skin beneath the eye area. Cucumbers are rich in Vitamin C and folic acid. Vitamin C helps in stimulating new cell growth, on the other hand, folic acid stimulates the activity of antioxidants to fight off environmental aggressors that are causing the skin beneath your eyes to appear puffy.  A clinical study proved the efficacy of cucumber juice in preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by restoring the skin’s natural elasticity.

Apply some cold compress

This pretty much won’t take lots of your time when incorporated into your usual skincare routine. The step is as easy as 1-2-3. Just wrap a few ice cubes in a clean washcloth and apply it to the affected area. Do this process until the ice melts or becomes warm. A cold compress helps reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels.

Green tea bag therapy

Another home remedy and an alternative to cucumber.  Green tea bags are loaded with antioxidants and plenty of tannins. It helps reduce fluid retention beneath the skin, stimulates blood circulation, and shrinks blood vessels. To do this home remedy, just soak 2 bags of green tea in a hot water for merely five minutes.  Let them chill before applying to the dark areas under the eyes for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water after. Do this process until visible results show off.

Get enough rest

It is not just enough that you sleep. See to it that you are well-rested. Go easy on the booze, catch up on sleep.  Jumpstart your skin’s healing process by catching up on sleep.  It is advised to have at least 8-9 hours of sleep.  Note that your sleeping hours are when your skin repairs itself and replenishes its moisture. Thus, implies that it is one of a most important factor in order for your skin to be able to repair its moisture barrier.

Take note of your sleeping position

Yup, your sleeping position might be one of the culprits for the dark circles under your eyes. This explains why dark circles are prominent and are most noticeable on your first waking moment every morning. Sleeping on your side or stomach causes fluids to collect under your eyes. Consider switching your sleeping position. Try to sleep on your back with an extra pillow. See to it that your head is a bit elevated (but be sure you are still comfortable) to prevent fluid from pooling under your eyes.
