You can finally have the sun kisses you’ve been longing for so long. Changing season mean more than just a switch in your wardrobes. This will require you as well a bit of updates in terms of your skin care routine. Have you figured out already how you’re skin is going to cope up in this new season transition? How does summer affects your skin?  Our sebaceous glands are pretty much affected during the increase temperatures during the months of summer. Increase activity in sebaceous glands makes oily skin appear oilier and dry skin appear rough and patchy. Uh! Oh! The intensity of sun ray during this season also causes tanning – tanning happens when more melamin pigments are produced. More melamin then resulting to darker skin. Your sunburned that you enjoyed much during summer? Sorry to say this but this adds up to your skin’s aging. The heat during this season may also cause pores to open, which as we all know, open pores may get clogged with dirt and oil and the result? Unnecessary breakout.  Pretty sure you don’t want to spend your summer popping pimples, right? Well worry no more because we got you covered. We’ve identified some skin care tips and practices that you might want to consider in order to achieve that healthy glowing skin for that summer to remember!

1. Time to switch to a little lighter moisturizer

The thick creams you were using through the winter months won’t do any good now. During warmer season, our skin tends to hold more water. Why? Because as temperature ramps up, so too our skin’s oil production. And our skin’s response? We tend to sweat more. Thus suggests that and is advised to switch your heavier winter moisturizer for a water-based one. Water based moisturizer works in order to prevent over saturating your skin and clogging your pores. Apart from that, you might also want to look for a dual-purpose moisturizer, a combination of moisturizer and sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

2. A refreshing toner would be of big help

As mentioned earlier, the heat during this season may cause pores to open. Plus did I just mentioned that increase activity in sebaceous glands makes oily skin appear oilier? Enough for you to keep an eye on the toner that you are bound to use. Toner is essential during this season because it prevents oil accumulation in the open pores. Keep an eye on the T-zone of your face – because this is where the largest concentration of sebaceous glands will tend to look slickest. Our suggestion? Opt to looking for a cucumber or aloe vera based toner during this season – for this skin care ingredient is said to be light and refreshing.

Exfoliate for smoother skin

Shed off that dry, flaky and dull skin as we enter this new season. Exfoliation plays an important role in removing dirt, waste and dead skin cells. It is vital in keeping your skin bright and healthy. With that being said, it is important that you consider gentle exfoliating cleanser. Exfoliating doesn’t necessarily has to be done on a daily basis. (Per the advice of our dermatologists) It is advised to do exfoliation two to three times a week in order to leave your skin looking smooth and radiant.

4. A change in facial wash

With a changes in season comes changes skin care form as well. Your face wash, the skin care product that is always included on what skin care routine you have – In winter, perhaps that nourishing face wash saved you and does the trick but bid farewell to it as you welcome this warmer season. Summer season might require you to look for a cleanser that can draw out excess oil from your skin. A non-foaming cleanser would be ideal for both the dry and combination skin.

5. Indeed, the season for SPF SPF SPF

This primary means that it also important to keep your sunscreens handy. Longer sun exposure means having to add an SPF amount. Wearing a sunscreen should be as important as brushing your teeth. No matter what season we are in – but for Spring and Summer, a higher SPF count is advisable. It is important to wear sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30 and says broad spectrum on its label. Yes! Check your label! Don’t forget to reapply based on what is instructed on the label.

6. Stay Hydrated!

Hydration is just as important for your skin as it is in the winter. – No let me rephrase it, it is vital whole year round!  Drinking water is vital and is essential for good health. Your body needs water for almost every function it does.
