But have it ever crossed your mind that while that healthy food may provide nourishment from within, they may also be use in the form of topical application? Hmmm. If you are fund of going all natural, chances are you’ve tried some of this wonder food that is most commonly found in your kitchen as part of your home remedy to that skin concern of yours. Roam around your kitchen and you might be surprise that you have one of these home remedies we are bound to share that is believed to be helpful in achieving that healthy glowing skin. Lemon

Your body cannot make its own vitamin C –which is known to be vital and is necessary for collagen maintenance. Rich sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits such as orange, lime and lemon. Pretty sure you’ll notice that majority of your favorite skin care ingredients contains vitamin C – this is the top tier ingredient! A super antioxidant needed to support immune system, promote radiant skin, and help blemishes heal properly. Did you know that the orange peel contains more vitamin C than the orange itself? Yup! No part should be thrown away ASAP! The peel contains antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that if use regularly could help brighten skin. How about an orange pack as your DIY rejuvenating pack? Just mix 1 tbsp of orange peel and 2 tbsp of yogurt. Apply on face and wash off after 20 minutes for that clear, fresh, and toned-looking skin.

Lemon  

When life gives you lemons, well then make a lemonade! Who would even say no to a cold glass of lemonade? Turns out your skin loves lemon too! Lemons have strong antibacterial properties, perfect for nixing breakout causing bacteria. As a rich source of Vitamin C and citric acids, lemons are known for its detoxifying effects, just add a few freshly cut wedges to your drinking water and tadah, you’re all good to your journey in achieving that healthy glowing skin. A DIY mask made up of lemon? Here it goes. Lemon when mixed with sugar serves as good exfoliator. Just combine half teaspoon of lemon, two tablespoons of powdered almonds with one tablespoon of honey. You’re all set to that wonder face mask! Just apply and gently scrub off the dead skin cells from your face and neck. Leave it on before rinsing it with water. Pay attention Lemon, when exposed to sunlight, can irritate and even burn the skin! Never ever put lemons on your skin and then go out into the sun unprotected.

Potatoes

Who would ever say no to potatoes? Potatoes gets better and better every time it undergoes evolution. From raw potato to mashed to our all-time favorite French fries! Why worry about going carb free because potatoes got you! Consider potatoes as your best option. For acne prone skin, Vitamin A found in potatoes are great source in reducing skin’s oil production and are best in treating acne. Potatoes contain an enzyme called ‘catecholase’ which helps to brighten skin and get rid of dark spots. You can even use potato juice to lessen the appearance of dark circles. Topical application of potatoes? Just make a potato juice and apply it on your face using your fingers. Leave it on before rinsing it with water.

Cucumber

What’s good for your salad is good for your skin too! The ever famous cucumber! Cucumber is composed of 96% water making it a great source of skin hydration to your DIY skin treatments. This is very well suitable for those people with skin concern such as dry skin due to its moisturizing ability. You can pretty much include this to your water therapy. Spa water it is. Just put on a slice of cucumber to your water. In making a DIY treatment, Just slice the cucumber same with what you usually do with your all-time favorite vegetable salads. Refrigerate and once cold, you may apply it directly to your skin. Leave it on for about 10 minutes before washing of the residue with cold water.

Turmeric     

The most common ingredient in Indian curries, but wait! This ingredient is far more than a spice. This ingredient is loaded with antioxidants and packed with anti-inflammatory properties which is effective in treating skin concerns such as: acne, acne scars and pigmentations. Tightening and soothing Turmeric Face mask? Combine the capabilities of turmeric to calm and suite inflammation with skin soothing ingredients like raw honey and coconut milk. Just mix 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric with 1 teaspoon of raw honey and coconut milk. Be sure that you have your face cleansed already before the application of the mask. Leave for about 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Repeat as necessary until the inflammation subsides.

Honey

Honey serves as natural humectant meaning it is helpful in drawing moisture to the skin. Does your skin needs extra hydration boost? This might be of big help.  It has long been hailed as respective ingredient beyond kitchen use. Its antimicrobial activity aids in killing bacteria living on the skin. This perhaps explains why honey many cultures used honey as a wound healing agent.  And the great news? You can just directly apply honey into your face. Just be sure that your face is extra clean and damp before doing the ritual. Just simply massage the honey all over your face and neck, allowing your skin to fully absorb it before washing it off with lukewarm water.

Eggs

Would you believe it? Your all-time favorite breakfast? Even make it to the spot for home remedies for healthy glowing skin. Yup, you’re seeing things right. Eggs is not only beneficial for the body it can also provide nourishment to the skin. Eggs being rich in lutein can provide extra hydration and elasticity to the skin, the egg white contains albumin, a form of protein that helps tighten pores and remove excessive oils. So are you ready now for a sticky kind of night rituals with the egg whites? In reducing fine lines and skin tightening, just simply apply the egg white on your face wash it off once you feel like the egg white started to dry.  In clearing out your pores, a little honey will help. Just add 1 tbsp. of honey to a beaten egg white. Mix well and apply on the face. Concentrate on the areas with pores. Let it dry before washing it off with lukewarm water.

Yoghurt

Woah! We hailed yoghurt as part of our dairy cravings but, with its dietary benefits, yoghurt has always been a popular food around the world. Well before rushing in to your fridge to check if you still have some stocks. Let us try to look at the reason what makes yoghurt good for the skin. Yoghurt, being rich in lactic acid is of big help in exfoliating your skin and improving skin cell turnover rate – which in turn may result in reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Check on your fridge now, Queens! We are bound to share with you now the secret to glowing skin with yoghurt. Consuming it is of course a good idea but you can as well do topical application by directly applying it to skin using cotton. Leave it on for merely 10-15 minutes before having it washed with cold water. It works well with other ingredient such as: (1) Honey – for that natural glow. A DIY mask infused with a half cup of yoghurt and 2 tablespoon of honey. Apply the mask all over your neck and face. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it with warm water. Do this once a week for visible results. (2) Oats – for keeping your skin clear. Oatmeal is a good exfoliator without causing any skin irritation. For that exfoliation that your skin needs just simply add a tablespoon of yoghurt to a blended teaspoon of oatmeal with a half tablespoon of honey. Apply the past all over your face and neck. Leave it on for merely 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Do it twice a week for visible results.
