This study published in the year 2014 explored the potential that Melissa leaves have in treating anxiety whereas, a sweetened water-based drink containing grams of melissa extract reduced stress and helps improve someone’s mood.

The study was further confirmed by doing the test with yogurt instead of water. The leaves’ rosmarinic acid content increases the levels of the brain’s neurotransmitter known as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) the level of the brain that is believed to be associated with a mood disorder.
